    • CSense Application Server

    • CSense Data Server

    • SQL Server Express

    • Proficy Common Licensing Client

  • Proficy Local License Server- You can select this option if you want to use your machine as a shared local network license server to host and manage your Proficy Suite licenses on your network.

  • Proficy License Server Tools- You can select this option if you have installed Proficy Local License Server on your machine. Installing this option will install the tool to manage your Proficy License Server.

Installation of Proficy CSense

The installation of Proficy CSense comes with the following two options:

  • Express Install- The Express Install option provides a quick installation of all required components on the target machine for a stand-alone instance of CSense. Select this option if:

    • There is no existing installation of SQL Server on the target machine.

    • The target machine will be used exclusively by a single user.

  • Advanced Install- Select this option to install CSense as a distributed deployment. This will provide you with options to install the CSense Application Server and/ or the CSense Data Server in a distributed environment. You can do the following:

    • Install the CSense Data Server on a single, shared machine and install multiple instances of the CSense Application Server on separate machines on the same domain, as shown in the below diagram.

    • Install CSense Data Server and CSense Application Server on a single machine with an existing installation of SQL Server.

NOTE: For advanced installations, you must have an existing Microsoft SQL Server instance installed on a machine accessible to the CSense Data Server located on your domain. Note that it is not mandatory to have the SQL Server instance installed on the same machine as the CSense Data Server.

Distributed Deployment

To support a distributed deployment model, CSense can be installed in one of two modes, or a combination of both:

NOTE: For Advanced Installation, where users other than the installing user need to use CSense, additional configuration is needed post installation. For more information, see the Setting up SQL Server for CSense access section.

  • CSense Data Server- Select this option to install only the CSense Data Server on your machine. The CSense Data Server installs only the CSense database components on the target SQL Server. To select this option, you must have an existing SQL Server instance accessible to all machines where you will be installing the CSense Application Servers on your network. Users installing the Application Server on their local machines can use this Data Server and will not require SQL Server on their local machines.

  • CSense Application Server- Select this option if you do not have SQL Server on your local machine and have already installed a CSense Data Server on a remote machine on your domain network. The CSense Application Server contains all the client applications and tools for end-users.

  • All (CSense Application and Data Server)- Select this option to install both the CSense Application Server and Data Server on the same machine. To select this option, you must have an existing SQL Server instance on your network.

NOTE: The installed CSense Data Server can still be shared with other instances of the CSense Application Server on your domain network.
